The Keychron K2 Pro is the wireless, QMK-compatible upgrade to the bestselling K2. It's a 75% keyboard with a compact footprint, hot-swap PCB, and support for both Windows and Mac out of the box. If you bought one, you've got a capable daily driver — but a few accessories make it dramatically better.
What ships in the box
The K2 Pro ships in two versions: with or without switches pre-installed. Neither version includes keycaps. You'll also receive the USB-C cable, a keycap/switch puller, and a small accessory bag.
Keycaps for the K2 Pro
The K2 Pro uses a standard 75% layout with an ISO or ANSI option. Most keycap sets support ANSI 75% without issue. The bottom row is standard — spacebar, modifier sizes — so compatibility is broad. Avoid bargain-bin ABS sets; PBT double-shot or dye-sublimated sets hold up dramatically better over time and feel nicer.
The built-in vs. optional switches
Keychron sells the K2 Pro with Gateron Red, Brown, or Blue switches, which are competent stock switches. If you want to go further, the hot-swap PCB accepts any 5-pin MX-compatible switch. Many K2 Pro owners upgrade to smoother linears like the Gateron Oil King or try a tactile switch like the Boba U4T for a more deliberate typing feel.
Wireless vs. wired and battery life
The K2 Pro supports both Bluetooth 5.1 (up to 3 devices) and USB-C wired connection. Battery life is strong — rated at roughly 4,000mAh. For gaming, wired is always recommended to eliminate any latency. For desktop productivity, wireless works flawlessly. If you use the RGB backlight heavily, expect noticeably shorter battery life.

Does the Keychron K2 Pro come with keycaps?
No. Like all Keychron Pro series boards, the K2 Pro does not include keycaps. You'll need to buy a keycap set separately.
Is the Keychron K2 Pro compatible with VIA?
Yes. The K2 Pro supports QMK and VIA firmware. You can remap keys, create layers, and configure macros using the VIA web interface or QMK toolbox.
What's the difference between the K2 and K2 Pro?
The K2 Pro adds QMK/VIA support, a hot-swap PCB (so you can swap switches without soldering), and improved wireless. The original K2 does not have these features. If you want to customize your board, the Pro version is worth it.
How long does the Keychron K2 Pro battery last?
Keychron rates the K2 Pro at approximately 4,000mAh of battery capacity, which translates to several weeks of typical daily use with RGB off. With RGB backlighting on at full brightness, battery life drops significantly — expect 5–10 days. Turning off backlighting between sessions is the single most effective way to extend battery life.
Does the Keychron K2 Pro support 5-pin switches?
Yes. The K2 Pro has a 5-pin hot-swap PCB that accepts both 3-pin and 5-pin MX-compatible switches. The included 3-to-5-pin adapters let you use 3-pin switches without modifying them. If you buy switches labeled PCB-mount or 5-pin, they drop straight in without adapters.
What keycap profile fits the Keychron K2 Pro?
The K2 Pro uses a standard 75% ANSI or ISO layout, compatible with Cherry, OEM, SA, MT3, DSA, and most other keycap profiles. Check that your keycap set includes the specific 1.5u and 1u modifiers used in the 75% top-right corner. Cherry and OEM profile sets typically include these; exotic SA or MT3 group buys sometimes require an additional compatibility kit.
Pro tip
The K2 Pro ships with a fairly high typing angle. If you prefer flat or low-profile typing, most after-market keyboard stands and risers use standard screw holes. You can also print a custom stand if you have access to a 3D printer.
